Tall Team

They are both on their feet!  Look how well they are healing!

Mom now believes that there was an accident and that we aren't lying to her.  We didn't know she didn't believe us this whole time.  She has some pretty interesting insights into what you believe when you don't remember anything and nothing makes sense anymore.  Maybe she will post those insights on a post later on.

Tim is planning on starting school after Labor Day, September 4.  He's psyched!  We are thinking of making him use a wheelchair so he doesn't get tired and to protect him a little bit from the high school hall crowd.  We are even going to put a sign on the wheelchair that says, "Fragile - Handle with Care!"

I talked with a person on the phones at work yesterday from Layton.  I mentioned good ole Davis County and she figured I grew up there.  She found I graduated from Davis High and told me her son would be a senior this year at Davis.  I said my youngest brother would be a senior this year as well, and would be pretty conspicuous this year because he'd have arm crutches.  She asked why and I told her he was in an accident three weeks before.  She asked a bit more about it and said she had heard of the accident.  Her neighbor was in an accident the same day as Mom and Tim and that he had passed away.  When her family heard about our accident, her family prayed and fasted for us.  She said it was wonderful to have an update about the family they had been praying for. I love it when the tender mercies of the Lord are so visible for us to recognize.

CT scan

Hey all! I'm home now!

So earlier today, one of my right ribs started to hurt, even though it was just my left side that got injured, so when I told my doctor, he was worried that I might have gotten a clot in my right lung, the same thing that I've been getting shots in the belly every day to avoid, so he scheduled a CT scan to find out. The nurse came in and put a new IV in my right arm, so that the people at the scanner could do something, and later I got wheeled down to the scanners. The IV was for some marking fluid to get into my lung so they could detect anything, and I was supposed to hold my breath at times to make sure the fluid got to the right place. when the results came back, it turned out that I didn't have a clot in my lung, but I did have some nodules in it. If I was a 40-year old smoker, that would have gotten them worried, but since I'm a 17- year old non-smoker, they think that it's just post traumatic. With those results they also got some things about my fractures: that my ribs are healing, and that ribs 2-12 are fractured in the back, and ribs 3, 5, and 7 are fractured elsewhere as well. I also found out that with the two fractures on my pelvis, I also fractured my sacrum, or my tailbone.

It's been good to talk to you guys!

Timothy made it home!!!

The first time I saw Tim walking!  He had been walking a few times with the therapists but no one was ever there when he did.

He was working with his occupational therapist on his upper body strength.

Mom is back in the hospital only this time for rehab.  Tim did so well especially compared to Mom at home that we thought it best to have Mom go back in.  She went in Saturday August 18th around lunchtime.  Her clavicle surgery went well.  Dr. Hall said it was more messed up than they originally thought.  He put in a bridge plate, a couple of screws, and lassoed a suture up to pull a bone back in place and then used bone matrix/putty to enhance the bone's ability to heal in certain places.  She was in a lot of pain that first night.  She still has a dressing on the wound.  The nurses are better able to keep the sling on Mom than I was at home.
 The view from her window.
Visiting each other on Monday morning.

Eating lunch together in the conference room on their floor.

 Yummy food.

We had visitors!!!!  Aunts Sherri and Heidi (Dad's sisters) dropped by with some of their kids!
Aunt Sherri, Jessica Waldrop "insert-married-name-here", Leslee Waldrop, Daniel on the bed and Mom.
Cousins!!! Leslee, Nora, Daniel, and Grant.
Mom doing occupational therapy while visiting with Cynthia Johnson and Paula Sullivan from the ward.
TODAY! Timothy was released from the hospital!
Timothy pretty much all prepped and ready to leave.
Mom wanted to walk around the pond this morning, and got down to it and walked a short while before needing to return to her room.
She thought the sign was funny!

I thought I might have been able to see one of their rooms from this picture, but I'm too tired to figure out which ones they are.
Balloon given to Tim by Sherri, Heidi, and company.  It says the same thing on both sides.
Tim on his easy access bed in the family room.  Posing for his audience.
The candy bouquet from Sherri, Heidi, and company.

Mom will be in rehab for about a week longer.
